Strata takes its inspiration from the layers of the Earth — surfaces shaped slowly through time, pressure, erosion and change.

​

Its elongated format allows sweeping bands of texture to travel across the canvas, creating a composition reminiscent of geological formations viewed in cross-section. Deep charcoal and earthy mineral tones are softened by warmer passages of bronze and light.

The painting celebrates the beauty of accumulation: one layer building upon another, each leaving evidence of what came before.

Strata is both landscape and abstraction, reflecting the history held within the Earth and the idea that our own experiences similarly build layer upon layer to become part of who we are.
