Birch is inspired by the quiet beauty of woodland and the distinctive markings of silver birch trees — their pale, textured bark creating a natural rhythm of light and shadow across the landscape.

Layers of soft ivory, chalky white, smoky grey and charcoal are built up across the canvas, while expressive marks and weathered textures give each vertical form its own character. The composition suggests a dense birch woodland, where trunks overlap and disappear into the distance, creating a wonderful sense of depth, movement and discovery.

There is something both calming and quietly powerful about Birch. Its restrained, neutral palette allows the texture to take centre stage, evoking the feeling of standing amongst the trees — surrounded by nature, sheltered from the outside world and drawn into a moment of stillness.
